Sharpie Chevy Blazer by AllHailZ Sharpie Chevy Blazer by AllHailZ
Finally, my project art car, a 1993 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, has the hood done and part of the bumper. Red Light Art is the small business my best friend and I started up to hopefully draw Sharpie cars.

My buddy did the Game of Thrones, Zombie Uncle Sam, Harry Potter/Lord Voldemort, Skeleton Fish, Red Light Art, half of Fight Club and most of the background.

I did Legend of Zelda, Serenity, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, half of Fight Club and the bumper. The bumper isn't complete as my markers ran dry as I was about to draw Iron Man between Stark Industries and Keep Calm.

What do you think?

Nice work! but...nothing along the sides? there is so much more nerd you can put on there..like BSG? Comic heroes and or villains?
You can do that flame look along the sides, but instead of flames you put your designs in there.
But anyways I do like it and I hope you get it clear coated soon, and don't forget to contact schools with auto body classes, they most likely will do it dirt cheap or free for practice; hey if dentists do it why not them?

Lol, thanks but I wouldn't want to work on Pimp My Ride.  I was never crazy about what they did to their cars and I wouldn't be able to do all of this in their tight time frame.  This took me and my best friend quite a long time to complete.

I can imagine. Ok, no Pimp My Ride. You and your friend dabble in many wonderful fandoms, though. It'd be cool if you made keys or something like this car. Something small. It's a nice challenge, eh? Go from one extreme (the hugeness and open space of a car) to another (finding room for designs on something like a key).

Ha, thanks!  It's actually more me than him but he does like some of it.  There are more fandoms I like but I thought they'd be too obscure for people to get.  Battlestar Galactica, for one.  I plan on putting a small reference to that show on the lower bumper as well as another small reference to Star Trek.   The Crow is another favorite of mine but very few people actually know what that is, I've experienced since I have a tattoo of that so nothing is planned for the truck with that one.

As for the keys, it might be something to consider.  I don't know how I'd do that one.  What would I even draw on? :p Any ideas? Are you talking about keychains or actual keys? Actual keys would be hard because that's something that would be handled a lot.  The markers we use are oil based and humans have oily hands. ;)

I was talking about the actual keys. But there IS a market for decorative keys- ones that don't work and can be decorated and put onto ribbons or chains or made into wind chimes. (which is what I do with my useless keys- I paint them and make them into wind chimes)
As to how to stop the art from wearing off… during my wind chime project, I put a glaze on it that made it weather resistant. I forget what it was exactly, but I'm sure you can run with that idea, should you take it.

I'm not sure how that would work.  A key is such a tiny thing, especially to draw on.   Maybe you could give me some examples of your keys or other decorative keys?

I am in awe! Its so clean and disorderly at the same time!

Thanks very much! ;) More is planned for the sides but I won't reveal what it is yet.   Though that will take us a while as it's a fairly ambitious project to tackle next after we finish up the bumper this week.

Thanks again!

seems like such great art down the drain if it rains or gets some rubbing alcohol on it! Do you like coat it with a clear coat afterwards? If not, id suggest doing that

Nah, we used oil-based permanent paint markers, not water-based like normal Sharpies are.  I've driven through plenty of thunderstorms and it's sat through plenty.  NC gets a lot of thunderstorms during the summer, not to mention the occasional hurricane.   The art lasts about two-three months before it needs touching up, which isn't too bad.  It's not hard to touch it up.  As for rubbing alcohol, that doesn't occur in nature to affect what's on the car.  The only way it'd get on the Blazer is if some jerk decided to mess with it and knew that alcohol takes it off.  The majority of people I've encountered like it and those who didn't said they could tell it took a lot of work to do but you never know.

But yes, I plan on clearcoating once I have the funds but in the meantime, I don't mind touching it up when needed.
